An OLD (as in 51 year old) friend shared something with me today. He wrote " Sometimes different arrangements cause you to think about the meaning of the Word again."
That's so true. I've always known that on a visceral level, but he crystalized it for me. Thanks! There is a lot to be said about the wisdom of an old/older man! :-) Yikes, I hope he doesn't get offended that I think he's old, although 51 does feel old to me..... But I digress..
After 32 years of walking this earth, I now know 3 versions of "Amazing Grace". And each version has a different meaning to me.
Different variations and arrangements of music give you more insight into the Word of God from which the lyrics are drawn from. That is enough to give this Christian musician inspiration and motivation to work harder at improving her musicianship, for sure! Now what was that group I have to find called ... 4HIM?

i think of how God speak to us personally and as musicians, we try to manifest and glorify this communion through our attempt to capture His glory through the music. I daresay, I have been constantly amazed by the artistry of artists too, who attempt to visualise the glory of his Words. How true it is that music and art works are sometimes more precise in meaning than words, that speaks to us in our time.
