A happily married friend.

G'day friends!
Thanks to facebook, I've "found" a friend of mine. She's a lovely woman, and a Speech Pathologist/Therapist (naturally). One of my 'seniors' in school. Although TECHNICALLY she's a year younger than me. It was one of those academic year timing things. Me being a Singaporean starting University in Australia, one year after 'A' levels. Her being an Australian Born Chinese starting University two months after her year 12 exams. OK, enough with the technicalities. If I may continue.

So I've known my "senior" for close to....13 years now. Since January 1996. I thank God for her EVERY SINGLE DAY at work, cos God knows I wasn't the most diligent Speech Pathology Student in the University of Queensland back in the 1990s, and I think if it weren't for Irene, I could not have graduated in time! She helped me simply by being her. Her diligence set a good example for me when my slacking off was clearly overboard! I know it was no coincidence that first Sunday in Brisbane in CCCB when I met her. Irene, if you're reading this, I just want to say, I thank the Almighty for giving me a friend like you.

Interestingly enough, her cousin, was my "junior". So in YF (Youth Fellowship) in CCCB (Chinese Christian Church of Brisbane), in Brisbane we had THREE Speech Pathology undergrads. One from the class of 1998, one from the class of 1999 (me ) and one from the class of 2000. And I was glad to extend the generosity of spirit that Irene showed to me to her cousin. Hand me down textbooks, notes. Contacts for Anatomy Tutors!!! All that was a natural progression. Although come to think of it, I think I was the only one who FAILED anatomy in YF. Yikes!

But I digress.

I caught up with Irene a few days ago, she's well. Married. Happily married if I may add, to a man after God's heart. Yes Davin, I'm talking about you! And I'm so happy for them. I knew she was happily married when I saw her email address. I laughed out loud when I saw it, cos it was so matter of fact!

Let's put it this way, her email address is kinda like mrssmith@gmail.com. Except that the "smith" is replaced by Davin's surname!! SO FUNNY!!!!

So, yes even though I got your wedding invitation but I couldn't make it to fly to Brisbane, I just want to offer you a Belated Congratulations, Irene and Dav, on a blessed marriage!
