While the doctors were trying to save Baby's life. His sister asked their mother, what are the doctors doing? can the doctors save Baby? My friend told us that it must have been God given wisdom to explain it to her daughter "God is teaching the doctors how to save Baby, but if the doctors can't manage to, then God will do it Himself, in His own way."
I will probably never be in a position like the doctors mentioned above. Where any decision I make will make the difference between life or death in the kids that I provide therapy to. However, the principle is the same.
People in my profession burn out. It's an undeniable fact.
Perhaps what I need to remember when I feel burnt out, is this: I try my best to allow God to teach me through colleagues, through scientific journals, through seminars, through the kids themselves. But when it is beyond me, I have to ask the children to go on their way and trust God to take care of them. I can only keep them in prayer.
