Silence
The lone piano kept me company
The cello lay in slumber, worn out.
You've made it clear
And it's evident to me
You’re happy to leave
You claim to have misgivings, but I find that hard to believe.
But then our time together was in the past
I hope he loves you more than I
For that will make things easier for me to leave you behind
It’s awful for me to say the words, when I never wanted to leave in the first place
I can’t understand why I need to put up a front and force a smile.
This is way too hard, to be gracious to the two of you.
I’ll be fine. I’ll move on
You’re far away, and I will amble away
Even at the end, I’m attuning myself to you.
It’s hard for me to be silent so swiftly
I’ll learn to give you up
For I love you too much.
