It escapes me when I first learnt of this humanitarian. I think my mother and father had a copy of his book in our bookshelves.
I have no idea where that book is now, but I remembered it was turquoise blue, hardback and a thin volume. The title was etched in gold on the spine and it read "All men are brothers"
In need of inspiration to answer a call, I googled Albert Schweitzer on Wikipedia and found these sayings which resonated within me.
"Do something wonderful, people may imitate it."
"Therefore search and see if there is not some place where you may invest your humanity"
"Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust and hostility to evaporate."
And the final one that convicts me to be a better human being.
"Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing."
As if I didn't need anymore encouragement, I learnt that Albert Schweitzer could play Bach. The hard core religious Bach, like St Matthew's Passion. Really well. :-D
