The Best is Yet To Be

I've been providing therapy to a young girl for about 6 months now. She's come along nicely, from just making some sounds to express herself to now, she can say "fish ball"

This is the conversation that ensued last Saturday, at her most recent therapy session.

Mummy: Isabel, we want to take this opportunity to say "thank you" Being Asian, sometimes we fail to express ourselves.

Daddy: Or, let me put it in another way. Words alone cannot express how grateful we are.

I find this family particularly special, because this Daddy is a person with special needs himself. He's a 40 something year old professional who happens to have cerebral palsy. He told us once, that when he was a young boy with cerebral palsy, he went for speech therapy too. And it was so boring. He said the sessions that his daughter has now are so much more fun!

For all their gratitude and thanks to me, I feel I have learnt so much more from this family. The main lesson being, one must have hope, nothwithstanding all circumstances! For as all the ACSians like to say "The Best is Yet to Be!"
